Neurotransmitters have been used as biomarkers for neuropsychiatric disorders and other disorders, including depression, anxiety, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), autism, and obesity. They are also used as biomarkers to assess therapeutic effectiveness.

Neurotransmitters are commonly analyzed by LC-ECD (electrochemical detector) or LC-fluorescence after chemical derivatization. LC-ECD and LC-fluorescence methods are usually sensitive. They are not very selective and require extensive sample preparation, however.

We provides LC-MS/MS based highly selective, sensitive, and accurate analysis of neurotransmitters, their precursors, and their metabolites:

  • 3,4-Dihydroxyphenylacetic acid (DOPAC)
  • γ-Aminobutyric acid (GABA)
  • 5-Hydroxyindole-3-acetic acid (5-HIAA)
  • Norepinephrine (NE)
  • Epinephrine (E)
  • Dopamine (DA)
  • Serotonin (5-hydroxytryptamine or 5-HT)
  • Biological fluid (e.g., urine and serum) and tissue samples
  • Method development for any neurotransmiter upon request
